Denton Holme Student Village & Denton Holme Arts
Cumbria Business for Business and its partners AM Cumbria and McKnight & Son Builders are the people behind the proposed Student Village and arts centre in Denton Holme, Carlisle. The development, which received planning permission in December 2009, comprises of almost 15,000sqft of studio space, over 3,000sqft of retail opportunity, an exhibition area and accommodation for almost 200 students.
The development, which has the support of the University of Cumbria, will breathe new life into Denton Holme, providing opportunities for graduates leaving the University and wishing to start their own business in the creative sectors, opportunities for existing artists to move into modern, purpose built studios with ancillary exhibition areas and retail space and thereby support the economic and cultural wellbeing of the city and North Cumbria. It will also provide high quality student accommodation for under graduates in a safe, secure environment that will help the University attract students to Carlisle.
